About The Position

Manages and directs all activities associated with the Revenue Accounting Team. This role involves managing and supervising the revenue accounting department to achieve goals within available resources, planning and organizing workloads and staff assignments, training, motivating, and evaluating assigned staff, and reviewing progress and directing changes as needed. The manager will oversee revenue recording functions for complex fields in states where Hilcorp operates, ensuring timely and accurate recording of revenue, fees, royalties, production tax expense, and payable transactions. Familiarity with standard ERP systems is required, along with strong analytical skills for revenue transaction accuracy. Responsibilities include managing revenue sales recording, accounts receivable reconciliation, general ledger account reconciliation, gas balancing, pipeline imbalance accounting, and reporting sales variance analysis. The role also involves performing special projects related to oil and gas revenue accounting and maintaining technical knowledge through continuous learning and professional engagement. Additionally, the position requires adherence to company values, supporting the company vision and mission, maintaining a professional demeanor, protecting company assets through confidentiality, and contributing to team efforts.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years minimum experience in oil and gas
  • Five (5) years revenue accounting experience
  • Ability to solve problems accurately
  • Exceptional proficiency in data management, including spreadsheet proficiency
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities
  • Outstanding administrative and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex operational information into an organized and presentable manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Strong working knowledge of oil and gas accounting systems and SAP PRA.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and supervises revenue accounting department to achieve goals within available resources; plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff; and reviews progress and directs changes as needed.
  • Manages revenue recording functions for highly complicated fields for states which Hilcorp operates.
  • Manages timely and accurate recording of revenue, fees, royalties, production tax expense and payable transactions.
  • Manages recording of revenue sales for all products and accounts receivable reconciliation.
  • Manages and reviews general ledger (G/L) account reconciliation reports.
  • Manages gas balancing and pipeline imbalance accounting.
  • Manages the reporting of sales variance analysis and explains for major sales fluctuations.
  • Performs special projects that require knowledge of oil and gas revenue accounting.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
