About The Position

The Retail Team Lead assists Store Managers with general oversight of store operations and workflows, supports team development, provides tactical training for associate-level staff, manages the loss prevention program, upholds safety standards, and maintains GoodwillSR values. The role helps ensure customers have a positive service experience and supports the store’s financial and operational goals.

The position is based at the Auburn Retail Store in Auburn, Alabama. The Retail Team Lead is cross-trained and expected to learn and work in all areas of the retail operation. This full-time position averages 32–40 hours per week, with hours that fluctuate based on business needs. The employee must be available to work any shift Monday through Sunday; operating days vary by store location.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of supervisory experience leading a team.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Prior experience in retail or a customer service-related environment.
• Cash handling experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper maintenance, reporting, and management of store financial assets, including cash register tills, cash deposits, and the change fund.
• Supervise team members to ensure they provide customers with the best service experience.
• Delegate tasks and duties to store team members.
• Create an environment that enables team members to meet expectations, goals, and performance measures.
• Meet or exceed daily retail store goals.
• Develop relationships with donors and customers.
• Assist customers with purchases and pricing.
• Ensure the sales floor layout is customer-friendly.
• Check pricing to ensure policies and proper formats are followed.
• Understand item pricing and the color-of-the-week system.
• Assist with hiring and onboarding new team members.
• Understand and follow all safety requirements.
• Work across all areas of the retail operation after cross-training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
