About The Position

As the Retail Supervisor at RWB Thrift, you will support the Retail Manager and oversee day-to-day sales-floor operations. You will work with the retail team to provide excellent customer service, maintain store standards, and achieve sales targets. The role offers an opportunity to advance in retail with guidance and support from the Retail Manager. You will supervise retail activities, coach and develop team members, and help ensure efficient cashier operations and floor management. In collaboration with the Retail Manager, you will enhance the customer shopping experience, implement sales strategies, and contribute to the success of thrift store operations.

The position involves regular interaction with customers, donors, coworkers, and supervisors, including people who primarily use English. A basic understanding of spoken and written English may be needed to understand instructions and communicate. Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred.

The work takes place in a busy, fast-paced, noisy, brightly lit retail store and production environment. Employees may be asked to switch tasks or departments and are expected to work in assigned areas based on operational needs. Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, repetitive hand and arm movements, handling objects, and occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office, Teams, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given instructions, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• Ability to safely perform essential job functions and meet qualitative and quantitative productivity requirements.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds and frequently exert up to 25 pounds of force.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions and tasks involving manual dexterity, fine motor skills, balance, and agility.
• Visual clarity at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced, noisy, and brightly lit environment, interact regularly with others, and adapt to changes in tasks or departments.
• Regular and punctual attendance, dependability, integrity, adaptability, attention to detail, inclusion, teamwork, composure, customer focus, and professionalism.
• Ability to wear closed-toe shoes for safety.

Nice To Haves

• Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or customer-facing experience; experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day sales-floor operations, ensuring store standards, efficient product processing, and optimal customer service under the Retail Manager’s guidance.
• Supervise and mentor retail team members, providing ongoing coaching to improve performance and foster a positive work environment.
• Ensure exceptional customer service by handling inquiries and resolving issues promptly and effectively in line with the Retail Manager’s direction.
• Oversee sales-floor inventory, ensuring products are stocked, merchandised, and accurately priced to meet customer demand and sales targets.
• Supervise cashier operations, including transaction processing and compliance with cash-handling procedures.
• Review key reports, understand departmental goals, and contribute to performance metrics with guidance from the Retail Manager.
• Work with the Retail Manager to implement sales strategies, optimize productivity, and contribute to thrift store operations.
• Direct workflow and shift employees to areas according to work and business needs.
