About The Position

The Retail Supervisor assists with supervision and store and donation center operations. The role motivates the team to meet customer satisfaction and production standards and achieve revenue goals. It supports merchandising and coaches engaging customer interactions to create a positive customer experience.

The supervisor understands and follows policies, procedures, and programs, and typically works on projects and tasks spanning one day to three months. The role involves routine work under close supervision, applying basic knowledge of procedures and customer service, and responding to routine requests. The supervisor also serves as a Goodwill ambassador in the community and may participate in volunteer opportunities as schedule and interest permit.

The position requires working a varied schedule, including at least two closing shifts per week and every other weekend as scheduled. Additional night and weekend shifts may be required based on business needs. Physical demands include lifting and moving items, standing for long periods, moving around to complete tasks, and working in a range of weather conditions and around specified workplace hazards.

Requirements

• Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to complete and retain forklift certification.
• Ability to work a varied schedule and flexible hours, including at least two closing shifts per week and every other weekend as scheduled; additional nights and weekends may be required to meet business needs.
• Must have a working phone that allows for communication accessibility.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand for long periods, move about to accomplish tasks, and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach to retrieve objects.
• Ability to work subject to weather conditions and exposure to human blood, body fluids or tissue, and hazards including dangerous machinery, moving vehicles, electrical currents, chemicals, or high places.
• Ability to hear and respond to equipment warning devices and use vision to work with computer keyboards and written and electronic information, and to assess store and donation center operations.
• Travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the value of donated goods and maintain production and store environment standards.
• Coordinate rotation of goods to ensure a continuous flow of new merchandise.
• Support training and coaching of employees and ensure adequate coverage at point of sale and in donations.
• Assist with hiring associates, including phone screens, and provide training as needed.
• Serve as a service experience leader by operating the register, assigning tills, maintaining customer flow and sales staff productivity, and ensuring proper cash controls.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work environment and ensure employees use equipment safely and follow safe work practices.
• Work with Store Management on apprehensions in accordance with loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Complete required reports and data entry accurately and on time, and share insights or concerns with leadership.
• Communicate and implement policies and procedures, reporting concerns to leadership.
• Plan and organize work assignments to improve customer service and protect assets.
• Manage routine work reliably, follow through on learning and skill building, and adapt to change.
• Represent Goodwill in the community and participate in volunteer opportunities as schedule and interest permit.
• Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
