About The Position
The Retail Store Tailor—Alterations provides positive input and assistance throughout the customer experience, helping ensure each guest receives a customized final product that looks attractive, fits well, and feels right. The role supports the selling process by greeting and interacting with customers, responding to special requests, and using alterations expertise to mark, alter, and press selected garments. The tailor also helps maintain an organized tailor shop, supports other team members, and communicates with management. The position may offer the opportunity to work voluntarily across multiple store or site locations and brands.
Requirements
- Good technical skill.
- Sound knowledge of various types of sewing equipment.
- Strong communication skills.
- A team-oriented attitude and enthusiasm.
- Proficiency in basic and advanced alterations of men's tailored clothing.
Nice To Haves
- Formal training in tailoring is preferred.
- Experience as a tailor for menswear is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensure garments fit properly.
- Answer customer questions and respond to special requests.
- Mark garments for tailoring.
- Alter and press garments.
- Maintain an open dialogue with management.
- Help other team members.
- Keep the tailor shop clean and organized.
- Ensure customers are properly sized.
- Offer suggestions for new wardrobe ensembles.
