About The Position

The Retail Store Manager leads the store’s employees and daily operations to meet Company standards, provide excellent customer service, maintain the site, and maximize sales and net profits. The role includes recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating employees; managing supplier and customer relationships; communicating with employees and the Market Manager; organizing records and reports; overseeing merchandise presentation and pricing; and managing financial controls and analysis. The position performs approximately all work indoors but also requires occasional outdoor work, including cleaning parking lots and gas pumps and taking out garbage. The manager may be exposed to occasional cold temperature extremes while supervising work in a walk-in cooler or freezer, as well as occasional noise. The role requires working with minimal direction and consistently serving as an effective manager, supervisor, and leader.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Retail sales experience preferred.
Experience sufficient to perform the essential duties, responsibilities, and work under the described conditions.
Ability to supervise and train employees in the use of equipment, tools, and materials listed in the Customer Service Representative and Assistant Site Manager job descriptions.
Ability to supervise and manage the functions listed in the Customer Service Representative and Assistant Site Manager job descriptions.
Ability to use a computer, or acquire the skills necessary to use one at the site, including analyzing reports and managing inventory, cash, and counseling notices.
Valid driver’s license and adequate transportation to and from bank and corporate management meetings.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.
Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors, including exposure to cold temperatures in a walk-in cooler or freezer and occasional noise.

Responsibilities

Recruit, hire, and train positive, enthusiastic employees to provide excellent customer service.
Develop, manage, and assign tasks to ensure the site is clean, adequately stocked, organized, and maintained according to Company standards.
Maintain a professional and supportive image among subordinates and the supervisor.
Schedule employees within Company guidelines to maximize customer service and maintain the site image.
Use non-discriminatory management practices when hiring, training, counseling, motivating, and separating employees.
Develop positive, professional relationships with suppliers.
Promote excellent service and resolve customer complaints in a timely, professional manner.
Promote and ensure a safe, positive public image in the neighboring community.
Prepare timely written performance appraisals and provide appropriate performance feedback to employees.
Train employees to meet Company standards for customer service, site image, marketing execution, and safety procedures; promote safety awareness.
Ensure employees receive proper communication in a timely manner and hold ongoing communication meetings with site employees and the Market Manager.
Evaluate site needs and develop specific action plans to achieve objectives.
Organize and maintain site files and manuals.
Supervise employees to ensure required and requested reports are completed accurately and on time.
Supervise employees to ensure merchandise is stocked, attractively displayed, and correctly priced.
Ensure required employment-related posters and signs are readily accessible to employees.
Analyze daily sales and expense information and take appropriate action to maximize sales and net profits.
Budget and forecast P&L lines and manage merchandise margins.
Safeguard and account for money received and disbursed.
Perform other financial analysis necessary to maximize sales and net profits.
Perform other duties as assigned or delegated by the supervisor.
Work outdoors as needed to clean parking lots and gas pumps and take out garbage.
