About The Position

Maintain a high standard of overall store appearance, cleanliness, and recovery to deliver the company’s Brand Promises. Provide friendly customer service and help customers shop and find what they need. Clean assigned areas and key store spaces, including bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic areas, using assigned materials and equipment. Follow approved procedures for collecting and disposing of trash, mopping floors, moving products and equipment for cleaning, and preparing cleaning solutions when required. Keep cleaning equipment organized and notify a supervisor of supply needs in advance. Take initiative to identify areas needing attention, complete assigned tasks, and follow applicable federal, state, county, and company requirements. Maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members and customers, including in difficult situations, and serve as a positive role model. Other duties may include checkout and cash handling, promoting rewards and private-label credit card programs, supporting Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship from Store processes, unloading trucks, stocking, planogram work, and supporting shrink and safety programs. The role is in a public retail store; work hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings. Michaels requires team members in this role to be at least 16 years old.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Ability to remain standing for long periods.
Ability to move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.
Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

Move equipment and products to clean properly and return products to their correct placement.

Deep clean bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify a supervisor of supply needs in advance.
Identify areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
Complete tasks assigned by a supervisor and follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.
Maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members and customers and serve as a role model.
As assigned, provide fast and friendly checkout service and handle cash according to standards.
As assigned, explain rewards and private-label credit card benefits and complete enrollments.
As assigned, assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS) processes.
As assigned, participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Support shrink and safety programs.
Follow standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
