About The Position

Maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the store while delivering friendly customer service and helping customers find what they need. Clean assigned areas and high-traffic locations, including bathrooms, breakrooms, and entryways, using assigned materials and equipment and following approved procedures. Keep cleaning equipment orderly, notify a supervisor when supplies need replenishing, and take initiative to identify and complete cleaning tasks. Follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines, company procedures, and safety standards. Interact positively and respectfully with customers and team members, including in difficult situations, and serve as a positive role model. Other duties may include checkout and cash handling, promoting Rewards and Private Label Credit Cards, assisting with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship from Store, truck unloading, stocking, planogram processes, and shrink and safety programs. This position is in a public retail store. Public areas are climate controlled, while some stock rooms may not be. Some outdoor work may be required to retrieve shopping carts or unload trucks. The role uses standard commercial cleaners and chemicals. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings. Michaels requires team members in this role to be at least 16 years old. The stated total base pay range is $13.75–$15.90, and the position may be eligible for overtime compensation under applicable state and local laws.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.
Perform work using standard commercial cleaners and chemicals.
Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

Maintain the store’s cleanliness, recovery standards, and overall look and feel.
Provide friendly customer service and help customers shop and locate products.
Collect and dispose of trash according to approved procedures.
Dust and damp mop floors according to approved procedures.
Move equipment and products to clean properly and return products to their correct placement.
Clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment; prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications when required.
Deep clean bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic areas to maintain a clean, safe environment.
Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify the supervisor in advance when supplies need replenishment.
Identify areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
Complete tasks assigned by the supervisor and follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.
Maintain positive, respectful interactions with team members and customers and model the organization’s vision and values.
Other duties as assigned may include providing fast, friendly checkout service and handling cash to standards.
Other duties as assigned may include explaining Rewards and Private Label Credit Card benefits and completing enrollments.
Other duties as assigned may include supporting Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship from Store processes.
Other duties as assigned may include truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Support shrink and safety programs and follow company procedures and policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
