About The Position
Guitar Center is seeking a passionate, goal-driven senior sales associate to help customers explore their musical interests and find the instruments and gear that suit them. The role combines customer service, sales, product expertise, merchandising, and support for store operations. The associate also guides and mentors colleagues, helps build customer relationships, and serves as a keyholding team member who may open or close the store as needed. The position pays $17.54–$21.92 per hour plus commission, depending on background and experience. Guitar Center describes its stores as creative, vibrant environments where employees can share their passion for music and develop their careers. Musicians may also use gig leave to take time off to perform or tour and return to their job afterward.
Requirements
- Passion for music and a solid understanding of various instruments and products.
- A proven track record in sales and the ability to exceed sales targets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to influence and inspire others to achieve shared goals.
- Flexibility to work additional hours if needed and work nights and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming environment and help customers find instruments and gear that support their musical goals.
- Achieve and exceed sales targets; upsell and cross-sell relevant instruments and accessories.
- Maintain expert knowledge of products, including guitars and recording equipment, and help improve colleagues’ product knowledge.
- Build strong customer relationships and help fellow associates foster relationships with the local music community.
- Organize displays, restock shelves, and maintain the store.
- Guide and mentor team members, supporting them during customer interactions and operational tasks.
- Open and close the store as needed as a keyholding member of the team.
