Retail & Shipping Associate – The UPS Store – Mopac & Parmer
About The Position
LAL Horizons, a locally owned franchisee of The UPS Store, is hiring a Retail & Shipping Associate for its North MoPac store in Austin, Texas. The store serves local residents, remote workers, and technology and small businesses. The position pays $16–$17 per hour depending on experience, with advancement opportunities, and is scheduled for 35–40 hours per week. Saturday and Sunday availability is required. The associate provides customer service and advice on shipping options; handles package packing, receiving, and shipment processing, including returns; completes print and finishing projects; sorts mailbox customer mail; processes transactions; and maintains a clean, organized, and safe store. Notary services are provided after the employee obtains certification, which the company will help arrange. No shipping or print experience is needed to start; the employer provides formal on-the-job training. LAL Horizons operates seven stores in the Austin, Round Rock, and Cedar Park areas and promotes from within. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Comfort with computers.
- Clear verbal and written communication, including basic math and spelling.
- Friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful demeanor.
- Promptness, reliability, and responsibility.
- Ability to lift more than 40 pounds and stand for a full shift.
- Availability to work 35–40 hours per week, including Saturdays and Sundays.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Microsoft Office or Adobe.
- Retail, customer service, shipping, or print experience; experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver friendly, knowledgeable service to walk-in customers and respond to phone inquiries.
- Recommend suitable shipping options and take ownership of customers’ shipping needs.
- Pack, receive, and process packages for courier shipment, including Amazon and other returns.
- Complete print, copy, binding, and laminating projects for local residents and small businesses.
- Sort mail for mailbox customers.
- Provide notary services after obtaining certification.
- Process transactions using the point-of-sale system and shipping software.
- Keep the store clean, organized, and safe.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
