About The Position

As a Retail Selling Colleague at Macy’s, you combine results-focused selling with genuine hospitality to create standout shopping experiences. You learn about customers’ needs, offer personalized recommendations, and connect them with appropriate products and services. Through product knowledge, customer engagement, and smart selling behaviors, you build trust, achieve sales goals, and encourage customer loyalty. The role is centered on serving customers and is more than cashiering. You also help maintain a clean, organized, inviting, and shoppable sales floor and fitting rooms. Colleagues prepare for the day by reviewing sales goals, learning about new arrivals and top-selling items, and keeping informed about trends and promotions. During the day, they welcome customers, build personal connections, recover sales floors and fitting rooms, update signs and pricing, and support merchandise moves. They share loyalty program benefits, ensure customers have what they need, and thank them for their visit. Teamwork, ongoing learning, and taking pride in work support individual and store results. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled for 30 or more hours per week. Schedules include weekend shifts, and hours depend on business needs and colleague availability. The position requires flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as dependable attendance and punctuality. The physical requirements include talking, lifting, frequent movement, standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Colleagues must be able to stand for at least two consecutive hours and lift at least 25 pounds. The role also requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and frequent use of computers and other technology, including handheld equipment and a cash register.
