About The Position

The Retail Sales Agent provides customer service in gift store and other retail outlets, processes sales using point-of-sale systems, maintains store cleanliness, and restocks merchandise. The role involves greeting customers, answering product questions, making recommendations, and resolving issues to support a positive shopping experience. The position requires self-motivation, urgency, and the ability to take direction while working independently.

The associate may work in von Trapp retail outlets, including the Outdoor Center, Lodge Gift Shop, and Bierhall, as needed. The role includes assisting with shipment receiving and inventory tasks using Yellow Dog inventory software. Additional hours may be available during foliage season (August–October), with reduced hours during mud season (April–May).

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
• Basic math skills for processing transactions and giving change.
• Availability to work varied hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift, push, or pull moderate weights up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to learn about products to advise customers effectively.
• Self-motivation, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to take direction while working independently.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, provide product information, and offer recommendations.
• Process cash and credit payments, returns, and exchanges accurately using POS systems.
• Restock shelves and organize displays.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment; keep sales floors tidy and shelves dust-free.
• Assist with receiving shipments, retrieving inventory from the on-site warehouse, restocking, and conducting inventory counts.
• Work in von Trapp retail outlets, including the Outdoor Center, Lodge Gift Shop, and Bierhall, as needed during shifts.
• Learn and use Yellow Dog inventory software for receiving merchandise shipments.
