About The Position
Perform and assist in various pharmacy assignments, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and other duties not requiring the review of a pharmacist. The majority of tasks and responsibilities are related to preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications, including, but not limited to, compounded non-sterile products (CNSPs), patient specific and non-specific non-sterile medication doses, and prepackaged or unit-dose products containing oral, injectable, or other medications.
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Basic computer skills including use of Windows operating system and word processors. (Required proficiency)
- Calculation skills (Required proficiency)
- Registered Pharmacy Technician - Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy - upon hire - Required or Registered Pharmacy Technician Trainee - Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy - upon hire - Required
Responsibilities
- Responsible to provide accurate and timely compounding and preparation of pharmaceuticals for patients with retail medication needs.
- Prepares new and refill prescriptions accurately, through the proper use of equipment and techniques, based on CHOP Policy for prescription entry and dispensing.
- Responsible to complete all pharmaceutical compounding/preparation and Quality Control documentation timely and in compliance with CHOP Policy and all regulatory guidelines.
- Monitors required areas for outdates, cleanliness, organization, and drug/supply stock levels.
- Maintains, purchases and organizes inventory supply in a manner which minimizes inventory storage cost, wastage, and stock-outs. Ensures inventory is rotated properly, stored in appropriate conditions and location with 100% accuracy
- Prepares medication in a manner that minimizes cost due to wastage.
- Provides customer service when answering incoming patient calls, communicating with patients on urgent requests, and communicating with medical/nursing staff to obtain key information needed.
- Assists with coordinating and scheduling the prescription delivery process.
- Participates in departmental process improvement initiatives.
- Performs above responsibilities with oversight from a licensed pharmacist.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Retail Pharmacy Management
