Retail Operations Manager
About The Position
Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah, is hiring a Retail Operations Manager to lead and develop the retail team at the resort’s golf shop. The role sets expectations for product knowledge, guest service, and sales performance, and partners with the Vice President of Retail and General Manager on daily operations, merchandising, inventory controls, and execution of the facility’s merchandise plan to support revenue and margin goals. The manager supervises and trains associates; oversees inventory, orders, vendors, and invoicing; drives sales and guest experience; monitors forecasts and business volume; and recommends improvements to retail operations. The position requires regular and reliable attendance. Compensation is $80,000–$85,000 BOE.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1–2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.
- Frequently use hands; frequently lift up to 25 pounds and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, supervise, and evaluate retail associates, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, recognizing performance, addressing issues, and resolving associate or guest complaints.
- Provide new-associate orientation and ongoing training in product knowledge, service standards, and sales techniques.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and seasonal presentations, and oversee order receiving, pricing, organization, and inventory monitoring in IMS - YellowDog.
- Ensure procedures are followed for special orders, group orders, and orders with Retail Partners for operational departments.
- Manage golf shop and stock-room inventory, including cycle counts, monthly and annual physical inventories, variance reconciliation, shrink prevention, and reorder planning.
- Keep the retail shop, retail office, and stock rooms neat and organized; ensure replacement and return policies are followed and track retail transfers and RAs.
- Follow up on past-due orders and communicate canceled orders promptly.
- Manage vendor invoices by matching them to purchase orders and YellowDog receiving records, resolving discrepancies, coding invoices, and submitting them to accounting by established deadlines.
- Uphold guest service standards, sell and maintain golf shop merchandise, and drive retail sales through guest engagement.
- Support and execute displays and events to maximize revenue, profit, and guest experience; present merchandise according to visual merchandising standards.
- Coordinate markdowns, transfers, and special promotions with the General Manager and Vice President of Retail, and ensure available discounts are used.
- Respond to and resolve guest comments and concerns related to retail operations.
- Compile and monitor daily sales forecasting reports and plan for staffing, productivity, costs, and expenses based on business-volume forecasts.
- Partner with the Vice President of Retail and General Manager on retail strategy, product assortment, inventory controls, daily execution, and merchandise standards.
- Ensure merchandise priorities follow the established merchandise plan and facility standards; monitor seasonal sales trends and recommend adjustments.
- Identify and initiate changes to improve retail operations and performance.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
