About The Position

The Retail Operations Associate supports store operations by handling shipments and inventory, completing daily tasks, and ensuring products are merchandised to provide customers with a positive in-store experience. Successful associates collaborate with teammates, focus on customer service, take initiative, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, protect people and assets by following protocols, and learn the technology and retail systems needed for the role.

The role includes inventory control, shipping and receiving, inventory cycle counts, stocking and merchandising according to planograms, preparing and placing signage and price signs, cash handling, and shrink awareness and control. Other duties may be assigned. Guitar Center offers gig leave for musician employees, allowing them to take time off to perform and return to their job after a tour.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work in a loud environment for 5–8 hours.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively with a team.
• Customer-service orientation and ability to connect with customers.
• Initiative, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, high-urgency environment.
• Ability to learn and use technology, retail systems, equipment, and computer programs relevant to the role.
• Ability to follow protocols and guidelines to protect people and assets.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks related to inventory control.
• Ship and receive gear and other items.
• Prepare for and execute inventory cycle counts.
• Stock and merchandise products according to a planogram.
• Print and place point-of-purchase signage and price signs.
• Handle cash.
• Maintain awareness of shrink and help control it.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.
