About The Position

Altman Plants is hiring a Retail Merchandiser to work at retail garden center locations, independently and as part of a team. The role involves stocking and displaying fresh plant material, unloading plants from delivery racks, and maintaining sales-ready plants and displays. Merchandisers communicate regularly with coworkers, vendors, retail associates, customers, managers, and store personnel. They may also help with inventory counts, display resets, special events, and preparing empty delivery racks for pickup. The work is outdoors in varied weather and seasonal conditions, with hours affected by weather and sales demands. The stated normal shift is 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., including weekends; hours may vary, with 20–40 hours per week.

Requirements

Positive attitude and teamwork skills, with the ability to work unsupervised at times.
Ability to communicate well with customers, coworkers, managers, and store personnel.
Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
Comfort working in various weather conditions.
Proof of driver's license and auto insurance.
Reliable transportation to and from assigned stores.
Clean DMV driving record.
Proficiency with mobile apps for clocking in and out and completing tasks.

Responsibilities

Stock and display fresh plant material in garden centers from delivery racks.
Help maintain a sales-ready appearance for plants and displays.
Work and communicate cooperatively with coworkers, vendors, and retail associates.
Remove and dispose of non-sellable plants.
Assist with inventory cycle counts.
Assist with resets, building displays, and special events.
Adhere to company policies and safety guidelines.
Keep work areas clean and safe.
Use tools such as pallet jacks, pruners, and ladders.
Work assigned schedules, including weekends and holidays.
Ensure empty delivery racks are ready and available for pickup.
