About The Position

Altman Plants is seeking an enthusiastic Retail Merchandiser to work at retail garden center locations, both independently and as part of a team. The role involves stocking and displaying fresh plant material, unloading plants from delivery racks, and maintaining a sales-ready appearance for plants and displays. The merchandiser communicates regularly with coworkers, vendors, customers, and retail associates while helping keep garden center work areas clean, safe, and attractive. This position involves outdoor work in changing seasonal weather and hours that vary according to season, weather, and sales demands. The listed normal shift is 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., including weekends, though hours may vary; the position is listed as 20–40 hours. Paid training is provided. Altman Plants is a family-owned, privately held nursery and supplier of cacti, succulents, annuals, perennials, and shrubs, with retail partnerships nationwide.

Requirements

Positive attitude and teamwork skills, with the ability to work unsupervised at times.
Ability to communicate well with customers, coworkers, managers, and store personnel.
Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
Comfort working in various weather conditions.
Proof of a driver’s license and auto insurance.
Reliable transportation to and from assigned stores.
Clean DMV driving record.
Proficiency with mobile apps for clocking in and out and completing tasks.

Responsibilities

Stock and display fresh plant material in garden centers from delivery racks.
Help maintain a sales-ready appearance for plants and displays.
Work and communicate cooperatively with coworkers, vendors, and retail associates.
Remove and dispose of non-sellable plants.
Assist with inventory cycle counts.
Assist with resets, building displays, and special events.
Adhere to company policies and safety guidelines.
Keep work areas clean and safe.
Use tools such as pallet jacks, pruners, and ladders.
Work assigned schedules, including weekends and holidays.
Ensure empty delivery racks are ready and available for pickup.
Push loaded and empty delivery racks daily.
