About The Position

The Retail Merchandise Processor works with production and retail team members in a fast-paced environment to receive, sort, price, process, and prepare donated merchandise for sale in a Goodwill retail store. The role includes evaluating merchandise for the sales floor, meeting processing quotas, stocking and organizing merchandise, recording donations, and assisting with other store operations as needed. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

A minimum of six months of previous work experience, or equivalent educational or vocational experience, is preferred.
Ability to work a flexible schedule supporting store opening, production, and closing operations, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively in English.
Problem-solving ability.
Ability to provide exceptional, friendly, and engaging customer service.
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds at times.
Ability to walk, stoop, stand, bend, kneel, and climb continuously for prolonged periods, up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift.
Ability to work while frequently exposed to airborne particles.

Responsibilities

Sort and process soft-line and hard-line merchandise according to established guidelines to determine whether it is appropriate for the sales floor.
Roll merchandise and accurately stock it on the sales floor.
Record and monitor donations accurately and on time.
Stay informed about brand names, designer labels, and current and vintage styles.
Sort apparel into boutique/Ecommerce, sellable, and salvage categories according to quota.
Place items on hangers, load hangers onto rolling racks, and transport items to the sales floor while keeping similar items grouped.
Maintain a processing pace that meets the daily quota for pieces processed.
Price and roll merchandise to appropriate sales-floor areas in an organized, well-merchandised manner.
Follow safety and security practices, including reporting hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
Provide friendly, engaging customer service to donors and customers.
Comply with policies, including participating in store meetings and trainings.
Follow the work schedule set by the supervisor.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including the production area.
Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with Goodwill uniform standards.
Communicate Goodwill’s mission and vision to donors and customers.
Cross-train in other store functions and assist in other areas as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
