About The Position
Sun Tan City is seeking a motivated leader to join its management team as a Retail Manager in Training. The role helps drive salon performance, provide superior client service, and maintain operational excellence while meeting or exceeding productivity goals. The manager in training supervises and manages Tanning Consultants, leads by example, creates a sense of urgency, and holds the team accountable for delivering an exceptional client experience. The position monitors salon operations in a fast-paced environment, supports sales and expense control, and helps maintain staffing levels that balance productivity, customer service, and labor costs. The role offers a base pay of $16.00 per hour or more, with performance and store bonuses; the posting states average management earnings of up to $21.00 per hour when performance and training criteria are met, but this average is not guaranteed. The expected workweek is five days and approximately 35 to 45 hours, depending on hourly or salary status. Night and weekend work is required. The job involves standing and walking for long periods, bending to clean tanning equipment or pick up items from floors, lifting or assisting with lifting heavy boxes, and performing salon cleaning tasks.
Requirements
- Management and/or sales experience is required.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple situations simultaneously.
- Knowledge of client service techniques and operational practices.
- Problem-solving and organizational/planning skills.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and mentor.
- Team-building skills.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate.
- Ability to work a five-day week of approximately 35 to 45 hours, depending on hourly or salary status.

- Ability to bend at the waist to clean tanning equipment and bend down to pick up trash, towels, and other items from floors.
- Ability to lift or assist in lifting items and heavy boxes.
- Ability to perform salon cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing.

Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage daily salon operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Lead by example in company operations, creating a client-centric experience and meeting personal sales expectations.
- Maintain a professional and impeccably clean salon environment.
- Establish clear goals and objectives for team members.
- Coach, train, and provide feedback to improve team members’ daily performance.
- Generate sales reports, maintain inventory, and assist with other Salon Director functions.
- Assist the Salon Director in controlling top-line revenue and expenses.
- Help maintain appropriate staffing levels to maximize productivity and customer service while controlling labor costs.
- Work nights and weekends.
