About The Position

The Retail Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs. The role maintains positive relationships with Store Management, communicates with Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, and partners with management on shrink-related activities and store shrink-reduction goals. The Detective identifies and resolves internal and external theft; observes, deters, and apprehends suspected dishonesty according to established policies and guidelines; and participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned. The role also provides timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service, promotes honesty and integrity, maintains confidentiality, and supports a safe store environment. Responsibilities include completing accurate and timely paperwork, maintaining appropriate evidence, understanding law-enforcement procedures, and participating professionally in legal activities as needed.

Responsibilities

Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
Conduct apprehensions within established policies and guidelines.
Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
Follow established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain appropriate evidence, demonstrate understanding of law-enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
