Retail Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Retail Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role conducts apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines, communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, and identifies and resolves internal and external theft. It also supports store shrink-reduction goals and programs, promotes safety awareness, and helps maintain a safe environment. The position requires providing courteous, knowledgeable customer service; maintaining confidentiality and promoting honesty and integrity; participating in investigations and surveillance; completing accurate and timely paperwork; and appropriately maintaining evidence. The Detective must understand law enforcement procedures and participate professionally in legal activities as needed. The role also coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management and adheres to labor laws, policies, and procedures. A flexible schedule is needed to support business requirements.

- 0–2 years of retail or security experience.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks required for Store Loss Prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
- Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
- Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
- Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed.
- Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support a safe environment.
