About The Position

The Retail Host provides fast, courteous, and service-oriented assistance to guests shopping in Adventureland Park retail locations. The role includes welcoming guests, answering questions about merchandise and souvenirs, promoting sales, completing purchases, maintaining merchandise and store presentation, and helping ensure retail areas are clean and safe. Hosts may also operate mobile retail carts and rotate food and beverage products according to department and health-code standards. The position is based in one or more retail locations throughout the park, with both indoor and outdoor environments and exposure to variable weather.

Requirements

• No education is required.
• Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from scheduled shifts.
• Must comply with all uniform policies.
• Must have exceptional customer-service skills and be able to handle questions, problems, issues, and concerns positively and professionally.
• Must be able to engage positively with guests to promote sales and customer satisfaction.
• Must be able to follow direction, multitask, and work both as part of a team and independently.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and remain on their feet for most of the workday.
• Must be able to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above the shoulders.
• Must be able to use a step ladder safely and properly.
• Must be able to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 40 pounds or more.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail experience.
• Spanish or other bilingual language skills.
• Previous experience with point-of-sale technology and PCI compliance.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and greet guests as they enter retail locations.
• Initiate conversations and answer questions about merchandise and souvenirs.
• Maintain general knowledge of available merchandise, current sales, and promotions.
• Promote sales and seek to increase revenue through techniques such as suggestive selling and upselling.
• Resolve guest concerns courteously and promptly.
• Operate point-of-sale equipment accurately to complete purchases.
• Keep merchandise stocked, organized, and presentable.
• Keep retail locations clean and safe.
• Refold or rehang clothing items as needed.
• Assist managers and supervisors with inventory-control methods.
• Process and return damaged merchandise according to company policies.
• Operate mobile retail carts when applicable.
• Rotate food and beverage products according to department standards and health-code regulations.
• Use a step ladder safely and properly to reach higher shelving.
• Remain alert to possible theft by guests or employees.
• Notify leadership when supplies are running low.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to a supervisor or manager promptly.
• Perform other duties assigned by leadership.
