About The Position

The Retail Attendant provides fast, courteous service to guests shopping for souvenirs at Adventureland Park. The role involves welcoming guests, answering questions about merchandise, supporting sales, completing purchases using point-of-sale equipment, and keeping retail spaces organized, stocked, clean, and safe. Attendants may also operate mobile retail carts. This position is for applicants ages 14–15 and is based in one or more retail locations throughout the park, with both indoor and outdoor exposure. The job is described as a seasonal summer opportunity with a flexible schedule.

Requirements

• Must be at least 14 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from scheduled shifts.
• Ability to comply with uniform policies.
• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to address questions, problems, issues, and concerns positively and professionally.
• Ability to engage positively with guests to promote sales and customer satisfaction.
• Ability to follow directions, multitask, and work both as part of a team and independently.
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on one's feet for most of the workday.
• Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above the shoulders.
• Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more.

Nice To Haves

• Spanish or other bilingual language skills.
• Previous experience with point-of-sale technology and PCI compliance.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and greet guests entering retail locations.
• Start conversations with guests and answer questions about merchandise and souvenirs.
• Maintain general knowledge of available merchandise to assist guests.
• Encourage sales using techniques such as suggestive selling and upselling.
• Resolve guest concerns courteously and promptly.
• Communicate potential issues or complaints to retail or park leadership as needed.
• Accurately operate point-of-sale equipment to complete purchases.
• Keep merchandise stocked, organized, and presentable.
• Refold or rehang clothing as needed.
• Keep retail locations clean and safe, including preventing tripping hazards and other potential threats to guests or hosts.
• Operate mobile retail carts when applicable.
• Perform other duties assigned by leadership.
