About The Position

The Retail Attendant provides fast, courteous service to guests purchasing souvenirs at Adventureland Park. The role involves welcoming guests, helping them find merchandise, supporting sales, operating point-of-sale equipment, and maintaining clean, organized, safe retail locations. Attendants may work in one or more indoor and outdoor park retail locations and may operate mobile retail carts. This position is for applicants ages 14–15 and is described as a seasonal summer job.

Requirements

• Must be at least 14 years old to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws.
• No education or previous work experience is required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from scheduled shifts.
• Ability to comply with uniform policies.
• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns positively and professionally.
• Ability to engage positively with guests to promote sales and customer satisfaction.
• Ability to follow directions, multitask, and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for most of the workday.
• Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above the shoulders.
• Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more.

Nice To Haves

• Spanish or other bilingual language skills.
• Previous experience with point-of-sale technology and PCI compliance.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and greet guests as they enter retail locations.
• Initiate conversations with guests and answer questions about merchandise and souvenirs.
• Maintain general knowledge of available merchandise to assist guests.
• Use sales techniques such as suggestive selling and upselling to increase revenue.
• Resolve guest concerns courteously and promptly.
• Communicate potential issues or complaints to retail or park leadership as needed.
• Accurately operate point-of-sale equipment to complete purchases.
• Keep merchandise stocked, organized, and presentable.
• Refold or rehang clothing items as needed.
• Keep retail locations clean and safe.
• Operate mobile retail carts when applicable.
• Keep retail spaces free of tripping hazards and other potential threats to guests or hosts.
• Perform other duties assigned by leadership.
