About The Position

The Retail Clerk SSI supports daily Smoke Shop operations by providing dependable front-line customer service, processing accurate point-of-sale transactions, and helping keep the shop organized and secure. The role involves working at both the counter and on the sales floor, maintaining orderly displays and high-traffic areas, and helping ensure smooth shift handoffs and closeouts.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. at hire.
Ability to lift and carry, bend or stoop, and stand or walk for extended periods.
Passing score on a pre-employment basic math test.
Prior paid or volunteer customer-service experience.
Availability for flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Completion of a pre-employment criminal background check, drug screen, and professional reference confirmation for the designated candidate.

Responsibilities

Operate the cash register and process customer purchases accurately.
Accept cash, checks, credit/debit payments, and coupons according to required procedures.
Assist customers consistently and provide front-line service.
Help receive, stock, replenish, and rotate inventory, and set up signage and displays.
Record daily sales activity and balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts.
Maintain cleanliness in the sales floor, stock area, exterior and parking areas, entry, windows, and restrooms.
Monitor for theft or loss and report incidents.
Prepare the work station and become oriented to available stock at the start of a shift.
Document totals and confirm they match before handing off or closing out.
