About The Position

The Retail Cashier obtains payment for goods by scanning items, itemizing and totaling customer purchases, handling cash and change, and balancing the cash register against transactions. The position also performs cleaning and other assigned tasks at the Travel Plaza. It reports to the Travel Plaza Shift Supervisor, Travel Plaza Shift Manager, or Travel Plaza Store Manager. This is a part-time, third-shift position scheduled from 10:45 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Days and hours may vary based on business demands. Weekly earned wage access is available as an option.

Requirements

Basic math skills.
Ability to accept coaching related to performance, work habits, and attitude.
Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.
Ability to follow training guidelines to help train new sales associates.
Desire to follow training guidelines for proper restroom-cleaning procedures.
Ability to stand for 6 or more hours per shift.
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Operate cash registers and pumps according to standard operating procedures.
Ring up and record purchases accurately; enter item charges, subtract discounts and coupons, and accept cash, personal checks, credit cards, and debit cards.
Perform merchandising tasks, including pricing and stocking, bagging ice and placing it in the merchandiser, organizing the cooler and stockroom, and replenishing deli-area supplies.
Complete assigned Operations Checklist tasks and housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning the interior and exterior of the Travel Plaza.
Ensure all money is accounted for.
Protect store inventory and equipment from theft and damage.
Check identification by transaction.
Report violations of rules and regulations to the proper authority.
Assist with facility maintenance and sanitation by actively participating in cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation procedures.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
