Retail Cashier - Hugo Travel Plaza
About The Position
The Retail Cashier obtains payment for goods by scanning and itemizing items, totaling customer purchases, handling money and change, and balancing the cash register against transactions. The role also includes operating cash registers and pumps according to standard operating procedures; merchandising and stocking; completing assigned operations and housekeeping tasks; and helping maintain and sanitize the Travel Plaza. The position reports to the Travel Plaza Shift Supervisor, Travel Plaza Shift Manager, or Travel Plaza Store Manager. The listed pay rate is $13.50, and weekly earned wage access is available as an option. It is a part-time, third-shift position scheduled for 10:45 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.; days and hours may vary based on business demands.
Requirements
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to accept coaching related to performance, work habits, and attitude.
- Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.
- Ability to follow training guidelines to help train new sales associates.
- Willingness to follow training guidelines for proper restroom-cleaning procedures.
- Ability to stand for 6 or more hours per shift.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers and pumps according to standard operating procedures.
- Ensure purchases are correctly entered into and recorded by the cash register.
- Enter item charges, apply discounts and coupons, and accept cash, personal checks, credit cards, and debit cards.
- Perform merchandising tasks, including pricing and stocking, bagging ice and placing it in the merchandiser, organizing the cooler and stockroom, and replenishing deli-area supplies.
- Complete assigned Operations Checklist and housekeeping tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning the interior and exterior of the Travel Plaza.
- Ensure all money is accounted for.
- Protect store inventory and equipment from theft and damage.
- Check identification for transactions.
- Report violations of rules and regulations to the proper authority.
- Assist with facility maintenance and sanitation by participating hands-on in cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Complete cleaning lists and assigned task sheets.
