About The Position

The Retail Cashier & Sales Floor Support employee provides customer service at the point of sale and supports sales-floor operations. The role assists customers by phone and at checkout with sales, returns, and other transactions; helps keep service quick, easy, and enjoyable; and shares fashion knowledge to support purchase decisions. The employee also helps keep the department ready for customers by straightening, lightly cleaning, and restocking the cash wrap and sales floor. The position may support other store areas, including order fulfillment and order pickup.

• Continuous movement for 6–8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching to handle merchandise and assist customers.
• Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to handle bulky and sometimes awkwardly shaped items, including reaching for and lifting items above the head.
• Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers by phone and at checkout with sales, returns, and other transactions while providing excellent customer service.
• Listen to customer needs and share fashion knowledge to provide a quick, easy, and enjoyable service experience.
• Straighten, lightly clean, and restock the cash wrap area and sales floor.
• Stay informed about key fashion trends and products to help customers make purchase decisions.
• Tell customers about upcoming events, Nordstrom gift cards, and the Nordstrom Rewards program.
• Flexibly support other store areas, including order fulfillment and order pickup.
