About The Position

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Retail Butcher is responsible for fabricating high-quality meat products while delivering top-tier customer service at our retail counter. This position ensures that all products are prepared, portioned, and displayed beautifully while strictly adhering to corporate food safety and health guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a customer service, retail, or food service industry.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, active listening, and basic mathematical proficiency for weighing and pricing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a retail customer meat-cutting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with cutting equipment such as grinders and band saws is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve and assist customers at the counter. Enthusiastically explain product flavor profiles, taste, and various preparation methods using personal knowledge and training.
  • Cut, trim, de-bone, tie, and grind meats to portion and prepare them into retail-ready cooking forms.
  • Proficiently and safely operate butcher's cutlery and powered equipment, including electric grinders and band saws.
  • Precision cut and weigh steaks, chops, and custom orders for individual customer servings.
  • Maintain, stock, and arrange meat products in retail display units. Ensure strict adherence to product dating, freshness, and inventory control.
  • Follow all guidelines and procedures outlined in the health and safety policy manual to maintain absolute food safety.
