About The Position

As a Retail Associate, you serve as a brand ambassador and help provide exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. You use problem-solving and sales abilities to answer customer questions and make product recommendations while supporting Columbia Sportswear Company’s values of customer service and teamwork. Associates help maintain product availability and visual displays, respond to customer inquiries, and ensure efficient checkout, while supporting the Store Leadership team and the company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.” The position is seasonal and part-time, pays $14 per hour, and is based at 11622 Northeast Executive Drive, Suite I-100, Edinburgh, IN 46124. Candidates must be at least 16 years old. A flexible retail schedule may change seasonally and in response to local business trends or forecasts.

Columbia Sportswear Company offers temporary employees a 401(k) plan with a company match, employee discounts, and Wellness Time Off subject to applicable state and local paid-leave laws. Employees must be at least 18 and have worked 1,000 hours to qualify for the 401(k) and company match.

Requirements

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• No specific education is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Two or fewer years of experience in a position or specialization.
• Skill operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly with others.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts.
• Ability to move about in an active environment and frequently adjust or move items weighing up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by responding to questions or issues about product features, benefits, and availability, and engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences.
• Demonstrate and explain merchandise, suggest suitable options, and make product recommendations.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety.
• Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Complete cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty program connections, efficiently and accurately.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing products accurately and efficiently to contribute to store profitability.
