About The Position

Southern Oregon Goodwill is hiring a part-time Retail Associate for its Medford retail location. The role supports daily retail operations and Goodwill’s mission to enable employment by providing opportunities for personal and professional growth while committing to sustainable practices. The position involves processing transactions, preparing and managing merchandise, tracking inventory, operating department equipment, and assisting GoodWorks staff with client-program work plans as assigned by the store manager. The work is performed primarily indoors in a climate-controlled space, with occasional work outdoors in varying weather conditions. It has a medium physical demand level and includes prolonged periods of sitting and standing, frequent walking and standing for up to eight hours per day, handling merchandise and equipment, and occasional movement of heavy carts and other material-handling equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

Speak and understand English sufficiently to read materials and communicate with customers and coworkers.
Be able to maintain the physical requirements of the working environment.
Perform simple mathematical calculations.
Experience that would support good customer service is highly desirable.
Previous experience in a retail or comparable environment is preferred.
Meet the physical demands of the role, including regularly lifting, carrying, or moving up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds, and pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 30 pounds.
Be able to occasionally push heavy wheeled carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment with loads weighing up to 250 pounds.

Responsibilities

Operate an electronic cash register and handle cash, charge, and check or voucher transactions.
Prepare cash drawers and related paperwork as assigned.
Receive, prepare, sort, price, and rotate stock for the retail floor, and conduct quality control.
Operate department equipment and machinery and prepare goods for sale, processing, or storage.
Perform inventories, tallies, and other tracking required for the retail environment.
Assist GoodWorks staff with implementing work plans and guidelines established for client programs, as assigned by the store manager.
