About The Position

The Retail Associate (Flex) works in the gift shop at Geisinger Medical Center. The role opens and closes the shop, operates the cash register, balances daily sales, restocks merchandise, and provides customer service. The position also handles payment and deposit records, inventory and merchandise processing, shop upkeep and security, and assists patients and visitors with directions and information. Work is typically performed in an office environment.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience is preferred.
Communication, computer literacy, mathematics, and organizing skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred.
At least 2 years of customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Open and close the gift shop.
Collect payment for merchandise, provide change, balance daily sales on the cash report, and complete bank deposits.
Record daily deposits in the Clinic Finance Reporting Center.
Price and inventory merchandise.
Process gift shop orders by telephone.
Assist with all aspects of the Point Of Service Inventory Management system.
Dust and restock shelves, dispose of empty boxes, store merchandise, vacuum, and arrange merchandise displays.
Perform clerical tasks, including recording orders, invoices, and magazine inventory; verifying merchandise against packing slips; and processing invoices as assigned.
Inventory, restock, and bundle newspapers for distributor pickup.
Arrange display cases with seasonal or special-theme merchandise and assist in selecting new merchandise.
Inform management of customer requests, comments, and concerns.
Maintain gift shop security to minimize shrinkage and prevent vandalism; secure doors and lock money in the safe.
Provide directions and information to patients and visitors.
Assist in completing merchandise inventories.
Comply with job-specific obligations and organizational policies and procedures.
