About The Position

Thomas Cuisine is seeking a friendly and dependable Retail Associate to work in the dining team at West Valley College in Saratoga, California. The role supports a welcoming campus dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors by preparing food and beverages, operating the register, and keeping the retail space clean, organized, and inviting. This full-time position is scheduled Monday through Thursday, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and pays $19 per hour.

The position is part of a supportive, team-oriented campus food service environment. Thomas Cuisine is a privately held contract food service company founded in 1986 that focuses on scratch-made cuisine prepared fresh each day and advocates the healing power of whole foods.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Basic math and cash handling skills.
• Compliance with healthcare facility policies and hygiene standards.
• High school diploma or GED.
• ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

• Previous food service or retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register with an accuracy of 99.85%, plus or minus.
• Set up the appropriate cashier bank.
• Document cash received and charges made.
• Identify customer needs and refer them to the appropriate department for follow-up when necessary.
• Collect data for cash control.
• Stock refrigerators with beverages, condiments, and other items.
• Clean, sanitize, and polish general work areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and taking out trash.
• Prepare and gather items needed for meal service.
• Provide exceptional service to all guests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
