About The Position
The Retail Associate works on the dining team at West Valley College in a campus café, serving students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The role involves preparing food and beverages, operating the register, and maintaining a clean, welcoming, and organized retail space. The position is full-time, with schedules Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and pays $19 per hour. The employee contributes to cash control, supports meal service, stocks beverages and condiments, and provides customer service. The work takes place in a kitchen environment and includes regular standing, lifting trays, and repetitive tasks. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- ServSafe® Certification and a State Food Handlers Card.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills.
- Compliance with healthcare facility policies and hygiene standards.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift trays, and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register with 99.85% accuracy, plus or minus.
- Set up the appropriate cashier bank.
- Document cash received and charges made.
- Identify customer needs and refer them to the appropriate department for follow-up when necessary.
- Collect data for cash control.
- Stock refrigerators with beverages, condiments, and other items.
- Clean, sanitize, and polish general work areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disposing of trash.
- Prepare and gather items needed for meal service.
- Provide exceptional service to guests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
