Retail Associate - Seasonal
About The Position
As a Retail Associate, you serve as a brand ambassador and help deliver exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. You use problem-solving and sales abilities to answer questions and recommend products while supporting Columbia Sportswear Company’s values of customer service and teamwork. Associates help ensure product availability, maintain visual displays, address customer inquiries, process transactions, and support the Store Leadership team in advancing the company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.” This is a seasonal, temporary position with flexible retail scheduling that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts. The listed hourly pay range is $16.00–$23.04, with an expected hiring range of $16.00–$17.00; newly hired employees typically start at the store’s specific start rate, with previous experience considered. Temporary employees may be eligible for a 401(k) plan with company match after meeting the age and hours requirements, employee discounts, and Wellness Time Off in accordance with applicable state and local paid leave laws.
Requirements
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Have 2 or fewer years of experience in a position or specialization.
- Have skill operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
- Be able to communicate clearly with others.
- Be available to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and based on location-specific business trends or forecasts.
- Frequently move about in an active environment and adjust or move items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- No specific education is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to questions or issues about product features, benefits, and availability, and understanding consumers’ needs and preferences.
- Demonstrate and explain merchandise, suggest suitable options, and make product recommendations.
- Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety.
- Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
- Perform cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and connecting consumers to the loyalty program, accurately and efficiently.
- Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing product flow accurately and efficiently to contribute to store profitability.
