About The Position

As a Retail Associate, you serve as a brand ambassador and help ensure exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. You use problem-solving and sales abilities to answer customer questions and make product recommendations while supporting Columbia Sportswear Company’s values of customer service and teamwork. Associates help create memorable customer experiences by keeping products available on the sales floor, maintaining visual displays, responding to customer inquiries, and completing checkout transactions. You also support the Store Leadership team in advancing the company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.”

This is a seasonal position. The listed pay is $16.00 per hour. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Work schedules are flexible and may change seasonally or in response to location-specific business trends and forecasts, subject to applicable laws. The position involves frequent movement in an active environment, handling items weighing up to 40 pounds, and possible exposure to dust and noise.

Temporary employees may be eligible for a 401(k) plan with company match if they are at least 18 years old and have worked 1,000 hours. Temporary employees are also eligible for employee discounts and Wellness Time Off in accordance with applicable state and local paid leave laws.

Requirements

• At least 16 years of age.
• Up to 2 years of experience in a position or specialization.
• Skill operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly with others.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts.
• Ability to frequently move about in an active or strenuous environment and adjust or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer questions or issues about product features, benefits, and availability; understand customer needs and preferences, demonstrate and explain merchandise, and suggest suitable options.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety; retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Complete cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty program connections, efficiently and accurately.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing products accurately and efficiently to contribute to store profitability.
