About The Position

Contribute to Goodwill’s mission in a retail store by helping maximize efficiency, store appearance, and customer and associate satisfaction. Process donations promptly so items can be placed on the sales floor. The role follows procedures and standards in the Retail Operations Manual, including donation inspection and sorting, tagging, and preparing goods for retail display. The associate may be cross-trained in production and customer service positions and must follow safety, asset-protection, privacy, dress-code, and work-schedule requirements. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• No previous experience is required.
• A high school diploma or GED is preferred; a combination of education and work experience will be considered.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work in a fast-paced team environment while handling multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect donations and raw materials for quality and marketability according to the Retail Operations Manual.
• Sort raw materials for store use, salvage, or disposal as trash.
• Stand and tag donated items according to Goodwill’s rotation system.
• Stand and hang sorted goods for the sales floor in accordance with productivity standards.
• Produce the required number of items each day according to Goodwill’s minimum standards.
• Follow uniform dress-code standards.
• Maintain an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
• Work as a team member in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and learn new procedures.
• Be cross-trained in multiple production and customer service positions.
• Follow asset-protection control and compliance procedures.
• Communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management.
• Adhere to the work schedule.
• Meet the physical requirements needed to carry out daily responsibilities.
• Follow Goodwill safety rules and regulations.
• Protect confidential information by following Goodwill privacy and information-security policies and procedures.
