About The Position

The Retail Associate I is an entry-level position responsible for delivering a positive customer experience while learning and performing retail sales and operational tasks. The role focuses on developing foundational job skills, building product knowledge, and supporting the store team in maintaining a well-kept, customer-friendly environment. The associate helps customers on the sales floor, assists with merchandising and inventory, performs basic cashier duties, and contributes to a positive team culture. Training is provided. The role is based primarily in a retail store, with occasional work receiving shipments or moving products in backroom or stock areas. A flexible schedule is required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs; weekend work is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
No prior retail experience required; training will be provided.
Ability to learn point-of-sale systems, basic math for cash handling, and company procedures.
Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods while assisting customers and completing store tasks.
Ability to lift and carry merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to frequently reach for items on shelves and bend to access lower shelves or storage areas.
Manual dexterity to operate cash registers, computers, and other equipment.
Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs; weekend work is required.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, assist them on the sales floor, answer basic product questions, and help guide purchasing decisions under the direction of senior staff.
Maintain working knowledge of one MonkeySports category.
Contribute to a friendly, respectful, and collaborative team culture with customers and coworkers.
Stock shelves, organize product displays, fold apparel, maintain size runs, and keep merchandise areas clean and visually appealing.
Process basic sales transactions using the point-of-sale system after training; handle returns and exchanges under supervision and ensure accurate cash handling.
Participate in training to build product knowledge and retail skills, seek feedback, and demonstrate growth.
Maintain store cleanliness by sweeping, wiping counters, managing fitting rooms, and assisting with general upkeep.
Assist with receiving shipments, tagging merchandise, and restocking the sales floor as directed by supervisors.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Assist peers, accept direction from leadership, and support a positive team environment.
Support special promotions, events, or vendor days as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned to meet business needs.
