The Retail Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in running the store. The role includes hiring, training, motivating, and supervising staff; leading meetings; helping the store meet customer and donor satisfaction standards; maintaining displays and merchandising presentations; ensuring cash is handled according to policy; and driving the store toward meeting or exceeding its budgeted financial performance. Ongoing training is provided, and career progression may include the opportunity to transfer to other stores. This role involves 45+ hour workweeks at a store open seven days a week. Donated products must be unpacked, sorted, and displayed, so the work environment can be messy and dusty, cold in winter, and hot in summer. The Store Manager relies on the Assistant Store Manager to proactively address and resolve situations. Thinking ahead, prioritizing, understanding the in-store experience, and engaging and motivating employees to deliver excellent customer service are important. Computers, email, and Microsoft Office are used daily.
