About The Position

Goodwill of Silicon Valley is hiring a Retail Assistant Manager for its Campbell store. The role provides leadership and direction for store operations, maintaining positive customer service and employee morale while helping the store meet revenue, profit, and production goals. The assistant manager oversees employees and supervisors when the Senior Retail Manager is absent and supports training, safety, merchandising, cash handling, reporting, and operational standards. The position is based on an enclosed storeroom floor, including a receiving area where work takes place daily. The work area is heated and ventilated, and dust and dirt are controlled through daily cleaning. Work is performed at a fast pace and may involve frequent standing and walking, with light lifting and carrying.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1–3 years of retail management experience.
Proficiency in English.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with coworkers, staff, and the public.
Ability to accept responsibility for directing, planning, and controlling store operations.
Ability to make judgments and decisions based on established policies and communicate them clearly.
Ability to work well with others and maintain positive employee morale.
Ability to perform varied duties and change tasks without losing efficiency or composure.
Ability to accurately perform cash, check, and credit transactions and related bank transmittal paperwork.
Ability to learn and accurately perform opening and closing procedures, including cash register operation.
Ability to distinguish color, design, and arrangement in relation to displays and merchandising.
Ability to coordinate hand, eye, and foot movements to move safely around fixtures and merchandise.
Ability to move hands and fingers quickly to count money and change and operate a cash register.
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, time-flexible environment.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of frequent standing and walking and light lifting and carrying, with a maximum lift of 30 pounds and frequent handling of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Ability to follow safe handling procedures; large or heavy items are moved with appropriate equipment and/or coworker assistance.
Normal or corrected talking, hearing, and seeing abilities sufficient to perform the required tasks.

Responsibilities

Provide high-profile leadership and direction while maintaining positive customer service and employee morale.
Be accountable for all aspects of store operations.
Conduct weekly store management meetings and daily huddles.
Maintain store safety and security and report problems or hazards immediately.
Meet store revenue and profit goals.
Monitor production processes to reach daily, weekly, and monthly production goals; ensure pricing and sorting staff are trained, goods flow to the sales floor promptly, and proper rotation is followed.
Manage supervisors and employees in the absence of the Senior Retail Manager, including hiring, coaching and counseling, discipline, terminations, evaluations, and initiating wage adjustments.
Follow the LOD checklist and conduct daily audits.
Ensure standard operating procedures are available and followed, including in the production area and during floor merchandising.
Ensure store standards are consistently met.
Oversee cash register operations, monies received, daily bank deposits, sales receipts, and inventory, and protect these assets from internal and external losses.
Ensure employees are trained on company policies and procedures, job requirements and expectations, equipment operation, safety, security, and store housekeeping.
Ensure paperwork and reports are completed accurately and on time.
Oversee training of community service clients assigned to the store.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Retail Manager.
