About The Position

The Assistant General Manager assists with overseeing gym operations to provide an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience and support a financially successful club. The role supports the Club Manager, helps lead staff, and contributes to customer service, facility upkeep, and day-to-day club administration. The position is expected to work five days per week, approximately 40 to 45 hours, depending on hourly or salary status.

Requirements

Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
Solid supervisory, diplomacy, and listening skills.
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Suite.
Strong problem-resolution skills.
Current CPR certification required; certification may be completed upon hire.
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to work independently and alone during shifts when business needs require.
Ability to work five days per week and approximately 40 to 45 hours, depending on hourly or salary status.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness is preferred but not required.
Retail management experience.
Enthusiastic, energetic, and hardworking attitude.

Responsibilities

Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
Help maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members, prospective members, and guests, and ensure staff follows customer service guidelines.
Assist with staff management and provide backup support to the Club Manager as needed.
Assist with scheduling and supervising staff.
Oversee member service and help ensure staff provides a superior customer experience.
Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues and concerns.
Perform front-desk activities, including answering phones and responding to callers’ questions.
Sign up new members and give tours to prospective members.
Facilitate member requests, issues, and questions.
Help oversee facility cleanliness and maintenance.
Assist with ordering supplies within the club’s budget.
Assist with tracking weekly, monthly, and annual statistics and reports.
Provide backup support when an employee is absent.
