About The Position

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is hiring a friendly and outgoing Restaurant Team Member to provide fast, friendly, and efficient service and deliver quality, consistent products in a clean and inviting environment. Team members work across multiple stations and help customers enjoy their meals in a fast-paced kitchen and neighborhood sandwich shop. The listed pay range is $17.25 to $17.75, plus digital tips; tip earnings are not guaranteed. Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2026, though the posting may close earlier if a suitable candidate is selected.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a friendly, customer-first mindset and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
• Be able to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
• Be a team player.
• Be able to stand or walk for a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
• Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work at multiple stations, including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front, as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Follow health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
• Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
• Prepare quality finished products such as sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, and ice cream efficiently.
• If age 18 or older, use the automatic slicer to prepare food items.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate the cash register and follow cash-handling procedures, including handling and balancing cash.
• Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
• Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders by phone.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
