About The Position

The Restaurant Server takes food and beverage orders and efficiently delivers items to dining room guests. The role includes providing warm, prompt service; maintaining food-handling, sanitation, and cleanliness standards; and coordinating with kitchen staff and other departments to meet guest needs, including during special events and functions. Servers should understand menu items, ingredients, dietary needs, and allergens, and handle guest information sensitively and confidentially.

Responsibilities

Promptly and warmly greet dining room guests and take food and beverage orders according to established steps of service.
Deliver food promptly and professionally while following safe food-handling and sanitation standards; follow up on additional guest needs.
Understand menu items and ingredients, advise guests on food and drink combinations when requested, accommodate reasonable requests, and note preferences.
Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
Communicate with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated.
Communicate effectively and patiently with guests and staff, and work well with others.
Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
Handle personal or medical information shared by guests with sensitivity and confidentiality.
Promptly address complaints or issues and relay relevant information to a supervisor.
Set up the dining room before service and restore it afterward, keeping the area clean and meeting sanitation standards.
Operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea and soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
Work with staff from other departments during special events and functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
