About The Position

Mecademic develops compact, precise, and innovative robotic automation solutions for the electronics and life sciences sectors. Our ultra-compact robotic arms are used worldwide by OEMs, system integrators, and end-users for tasks requiring precision and reliability in automation. As the QA V&V Lead, you hold ultimate responsibility for the quality and compliance of both hardware and software product development. You will lead the Development QA team and act as the final safety gatekeeper for production releases. Your mission is to ensure a seamless transition between Agile development cycles and the stringent safety requirements of industrial robotics.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a similar role, ideally in an industrial or technology setting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Jira, Git (Gitflow, CI/CD), and Jama Software (or an equivalent tool).
  • Expertise in machine safety: ISO 13849-1, ISO 10218-1, IEC 60204-1, and UL 1740.
  • Natural leadership, strong sense of responsibility, and ability to make firm decisions under pressure.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada (citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit).

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and lead the team to ensure exhaustive test coverage (Unit, Integration, System) within every sprint.
  • Oversee the integration of automated tests to enable rapid release cycles without compromising safety.
  • Arbitrate critical bugs in Jira and validate fixes before any update or deployment.
  • Drive technical and functional requirement traceability using Jama Software throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Define and execute verification plans to validate new features and ensure non-regression of robotic systems.
  • Specifically verify software layers related to safety-critical functions and cybersecurity.
  • Author Validation Reports (VVR) essential for market entry and certification filings.
  • Lead risk assessments in accordance with ISO 12100.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 10218-1, UL 1740, and IEC 60204-1 standards.
  • Validate that software changes do not impact the Performance Level (PL) defined by ISO 13849-1 (Machinery Directive/CE compliance).
  • Collaborate with the QC Manager to define production acceptance criteria and manage hardware/software non-conformities.
