About The Position

The Respite Provider delivers group respite care to individuals with developmental disabilities in a site-based setting. The role provides person-centered support, encourages independence, and promotes community participation in inclusive settings. It also provides respite services to families and caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities.

The position is per diem, with a flexible schedule of 3–19 hours per week, including afternoons and weekends. The role is based in Amherst, New York, and pays $18.54 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Six months of combined work, volunteer, internship, and/or applicable training and education with people with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide group respite care to individuals with developmental disabilities in a site-based setting.
• Provide person-centered programming and support individuals in making their own decisions to the greatest extent possible.
• Offer opportunities for individuals to participate in their community in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs.
• Provide respite services to families and caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Comply with agency incident reporting policies and procedures.
• Manage behavioral challenges of individuals served.
• Safely transport individuals receiving services to and from program locations.
