About The Position

A family in the Sussex/Menomonee Falls area is seeking a patient, dependable, and actively engaged respite provider to support a non-verbal teenage boy after school and during flexible respite hours. The teen enjoys outdoor activities, swimming, building forts or tents, sensory play with soft or stuffed items, watching TV, and playing with his dog and cats.

The provider will pick him up from school in Sussex and transport him home to Menomonee Falls. Respite care will take place in the child's home. The schedule is Monday through Wednesday, approximately 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with additional flexible hours possibly available. The pay rate is $20.28 per hour for Daily Living Skills.

Consumer Direct Care Network assists the Member or Managing Party with recruiting a Direct Care Worker but is not the legal employer of record. If hired, the Member or Managing Party is the legal employer and has sole authority to hire or dismiss the worker.

Requirements

• Be authorized to work in the United States.
• Pass a criminal/caregiver background check.
• Have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.
• Be able to work in a pet-friendly environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with teens or respite care.
• Experience with children with developmental disabilities or children who are non-verbal.

Responsibilities

• Pick up the teen from school in Sussex and transport him home to Menomonee Falls.
• Provide respite care in the child's home.
• Assist with toileting and developing toileting independence.
• Provide direct care and support with daily routines and activities.
• Engage the teen in meaningful activities that promote cognition and social interaction.
• Allow the teen to complete tasks at his own pace, maintaining patient and positive interactions.
• Maintain consistent, firm boundaries while remaining calm and kind.
• Clean up after activities and meals in the home.
