Respite Provider
About The Position
Consumer Direct Care Network is seeking a compassionate, experienced Respite Provider to support an energetic teenage boy with special needs in Wausau, Wisconsin. The provider will be responsible for the teen’s safety and well-being while giving the main caregiver time for self-care. The teen enjoys outdoor activities, carnivals and fairs, music, playgrounds, and swimming or water play. The position offers up to 15 hours, with scheduled hours on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Additional hours may be available to provide weekend backup coverage. The wage is $17.66 per hour. If hired by a Member or their Managing Party, that party—not Consumer Direct Care Network—will be the legal employer and will have sole authority to hire or dismiss the Direct Care Worker.
Requirements
- Be authorized to work in the United States.
- Complete a criminal and caregiver background check.
- Have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and auto insurance.
- Have experience working with non-verbal teens with autism.
- Be detail-oriented and prepared to give the teen full attention.
- Be able to remain active, move quickly, and keep up with the teen.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one constant supervision.
- Maintain the teen’s safety and well-being through safety awareness.
- Assist with maintaining routines, including reminders or assistance with activities of daily living such as daily hygiene.
- Accompany the teen on community outings.
- Prepare meals and snacks.
- Provide transportation to community outings and appointments.
