About The Position

A compassionate respite provider is needed to spend time with a child in the child’s home, giving the primary caregiver a short break while helping the child feel safe, supported, and engaged. The provider will build a positive relationship with the child and encourage independence in a safe, supportive environment. Care takes place primarily in the home, with some community outings such as park visits or walks. The schedule is approximately 16 hours per month, mostly on weekends, at $14.13 per hour. If hired by a Member or their Managing Party, that party—not Consumer Direct Care Network—will be the legal employer and will have sole authority to hire or dismiss the provider. Consumer Direct Care Network assists with recruiting a Direct Care Worker.

Requirements

• Be patient, gentle, and compassionate.
• Be comfortable providing personal care.
• Be reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
• Be able to understand and respond to the child’s needs, including navigating communication barriers.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience with childcare, babysitting, or respite care.

Responsibilities

• Engage the child in enjoyable, age-appropriate activities, such as park visits, walks, or watching favorite movies or TV shows.
• Provide personal care as needed.
• Maintain a safe, calm, and comforting environment.
• Offer emotional support and reassurance, especially when the child is frustrated or upset.
• Communicate regularly with the parent about the child’s needs and well-being.
