Respite Provider
About The Position
Provide part-time respite care to a child in Menomonie, Wisconsin, for approximately 10 hours per week. The role focuses on helping the child stay safe, active, entertained, and engaged while building a positive, trusting relationship and creating fun experiences around his interests. Picking the child up from home is preferred, and reliable transportation is needed for pickups and community outings. The schedule is flexible with open availability during summer. During the school year, care takes place after school and on weekends. The role is offered at $14.13 per hour. A caregiver background check is required before employment. If hired by a Member or Managing Party, that Member or Managing Party—not Consumer Direct Care Network—will be the legal employer and will have sole authority to hire or dismiss the Direct Care Worker. Consumer Direct Care Network assists with recruitment.
Requirements
- Patient, understanding, attentive to details, and a good listener.
- Calm and supportive during sensitive moments.
- Respectful of the child's communication preferences; he prefers not to repeat himself.
- Reliable and dependable, and able to build trust.
- Reliable transportation for home pickups and community outings.
- Caregiver background check required before employment.
Nice To Haves
- CPR certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with children or individuals with special needs is a plus.
- Enjoyment of outdoor activities, gaming, science, and space exploration is a good fit for the child's interests.
