About The Position

The Respiratory Therapy Intern works in the Respiratory Care department at St Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Under appropriate supervision, the intern administers medications and treatments based on patient outcomes, delivers ordered therapies and assesses patient responses, monitors and communicates patient condition, and provides education about diseases, medications, and treatment.

Requirements

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• High school diploma equivalency or enrollment in an accredited program specific to the discipline.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments based on patient outcomes under appropriate supervision.
• Deliver ordered therapy and assess the patient’s response.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition.
• Provide patient education about diseases, medications, and treatment.
